Photographer’s Fellowship

Thank you for your interest in the Photographer’s Fellowship Fund. The deadline has now passed. The recipient of the fellowship will be announced in mid-October.

Apply for the opportunity to receive a $2,500 grant, awarded annually to a regional* artist working in photography and related media.

Juror:  Fabienne Powell, the New York State Office of General Services Assistant Curator of the Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza Art Collection and New York State’s Harlem Art Collection. Fabienne holds a BA in Photography from SUNY Albany and a Masters in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.  She has over a decade of gallery and museum experience.



Since 1980, the Center for Photography at Woodstock has provided regional* photographers with significant recognition and support through the Photographer’s Fellowship Fund award. To date, CPW has awarded $78,600 in Photographer’s Fund Fellowships to 88 artists. Past recipients include Mark Lyon, Kenro Izu, Andrea Modica, Lucinda Devlin, Craig J. Barber, Tanya Marcuse, Isaac Diggs, among others.

There is a $10 online processing fee to enter, and if selected the award may be utilized in any way the recipient wishes to advance their creative career. Recipients are required to contribute one of  their  prints from the selected portfolio to CPW’s Print Collection which is held at CPW and at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz.

The 2016 Photographer’s Fellowship Fund program has generously been made possible in part by individual donors, the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Thompson Family Foundation, and the New York State Council on the Arts, a state agency. *Only artists working in photography who live in the following New York State Counties are eligible to apply:
Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Delaware, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Orange, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren, and Washington.

Proof of residency is required.
