Steven Laxton

Having lived in Australia, United Kingdom, Poland and the USA, as well as having traveled extensively throughout Asia and much of the world, I feel lucky to be able to draw from a wide range of cultural influences. My inspiration comes from cinema, music, dance and painting, with my biggest influences being directors such as Krzysztof Kieslowski, Martin Scorsese, Wong Kai Wai and Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Originally from Australia, Steven Laxton first worked in London as an editorial and advertising photographer before moving to New York to assist the likes of Platon, Mary-Ellen Mark, Craig McDean, Steven Meisel and Arthur Elgort. He now shoots commercial assignments and his own fine-art work in New York City. He was voted one of Fifteen Rising Stars of International Photography 2007 by American Photo magazine. Over the past seven years Steven has based himself in London and New York to service his international clientele in the USA, UK, Italy, France, Poland, Canada, Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand. His work has taken him to over a dozen countries in 5 continents, with shoots for advertising and a variety of publications. Steven’s work has been exhibited widely across Europe, Australia and America.
