Sian Bonnell

I am interested in the places we go when we are vacant; when we are taking part in the reality of everyday life but drift off, as when I am doing the ironing. I am intrigued by the absurd. Life and the reality of our lives is steeped in absurdity, a Dada of the everyday.

London-born Sian Bonnell currently resides in Dorset, England. She studied Art at the Harrow School and the Chelsea School of Art, and earned her MFA from Newcastle upon Tyne Polytechnic. Her work has been exhibited in the United Kingdom at New Contemporaries in London, Radley College in Abingdon, Time Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, Hirschl Contemporary Art in London, and in the United States at the Houston Center for Photography, Colorado Photographic Arts in Denver, and the Harry Ransom Center in Austin. Sian’s work is in collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and the Bibliotheque Nationale. Sian has taught at the University of Plymouth, the University of Westminster, the Art Institute at Bournemouth, Watershed Media Centre, and is an active writer, curator, and consultant.
