Meg Reilley

After a seven year absence from the place of my birth and upbringing, I returned home to South Louisiana. No one was more surprised than me by the connection that transpired both emotionally and visually.

The slow pace and wealth of willing subjects has allowed me to concentrate on my art. What was intended to be a five month visit has become a three year voyage.

Using the medium of photography I examine the fine line between danger and innocence, giving the girl that grew up in this region a mirror and a face.

Meg Reilley studied at Louisiana State University, New York University, San Francisco City College, and with Ruth Bernhard. She has worked as a freelance photographer since 1996 making compact disc covers for Louisiana musicians, portraits, and custom printing. She has worked assisting photographers Keith Carter and Michele Clement.
