“10,000 items or less” is meditative and spastic, hypnotic and disturbing. Shot over a 2 month period, 10,000 items or less features 10,000 individual photos of items in a supermarket. Each item gets its own cozy frame, but at thirty frames per second it doesn’t get to relax for long. The result is a five and a half minute flurry with noisy audio derived from the color values of the images themselves. Dog food and T.V. dinners, cigarettes and baby food all play a part in this experimental portrayal of bloated consumer choices.
