Bill Miles

From the moment I first visited Woodstock and slept under the shadow of Overlook Mountain, I was captivated by its majestic beauty. Woodstock and the surrounding Catskill area both soulfully and spiritually touch all who come in contact with it. There are times I have been stopped in my tracks by the magnitude of beauty.

Through this work, I have chosen to share some of the more intimate details rather than the grand expanse of a landscape. This opportunity created a chance to explore secluded areas that were previously unknown to me; it’s my hope that these images present a window allowing the viewer a peek into the quiet of these peaceful moments.

Bill Miles (Woodstock, NY) was supposed to gone directly into his family’s machinery business. Born in Saginaw, Michigan, he studied engineering at the University of Michigan and thus dutifully following along that path, even going so far as to accept an engineering position at a large corporation for about 10 minutes before realizing that all he wanted to do was take pictures. He later graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA, and now works as a commercial photographer.
