October Snow from Dennis O'Clair on Vimeo. Media savvy photographers know they need to adapt quickly to meet the increasing demand for video content. If you are a photographer with experience in digital photography and workflow, then you already have many of the skills necessary to join the video revolution. Simplicity and adaptation will be the overall themes of this Intro to DSLR Video class. Through demonstrations, discussions, and hands-on exercises you will learn the technical aspects of video capture, including camera set up, frame rates, picture profiles and white balance. Exercises in metering, focusing, exposure techniques, camera movement and lighting will take place. Audio will also be discussed and demonstrated, including dual system audio and syncing in post-production. Workflow, file management, and editing options will also be demonstrated. Students are encouraged to bring their own camera and gear, although equipment is not required. CPW has a number of Canon 5D Mark IIs and 7Ds for students to utilize. This workshop will provide you with a solid technical foundation and the creative inspiration you need to start producing professional video right away. DENNIS

Since the introduction of the Canon 5DMkII, Dennis has thoroughly embraced the HD video capability of this camera and has concentrated on perfecting his video and film making skills. He has a simple approach and a DIY attitude that is perfect for creating high quality video in a budget conscious environment. You’re sure to walk away with a greater understanding of the photography marketplace and the tools to become a thoughtful collector. ALICE SACHS ZIMET began to collect photography in 1985. Her collection of roughly 200 images reflects both personal taste and passionate enthusiasm with a focus on more established mid 20th Century artists. Alice is a member of the Collections Committee of the Harvard Art Museums, a board member of The Magnum Foundation and is a member of the International Center of Photography’s (ICP) Acquisitions Committee. Professionally, Alice began her career at Metropolitan Museum of Art and ICP and soon moved to the private sector where she ran the Worldwide Cultural Affairs program at The Chase Manhattan Bank. Today, Alice is President, Arts + Business Partners, a boutique that specializes in corporate sponsorship: www.artsandbusinesspartners.com. Alice teaches regularly for Americans for the Arts, New York University (adjunct professor) and the U.S. Department of State.
