John Dugdale, 2004 Vision Award Honoree for Artistic Excellence

The Center for Photography at Woodstock is proud to announce the recipients of its first annual Vision Awards, recognizing those individuals who have made important contributions in the field of photography. The 2004 honorees will be celebrated at a special benefit event ceremony on Saturday, July 31, 2004 (5:30 – 7:30 pm). The inaugural Vision Awards are being given to sisters Colleen Kenyon and Kathleen Kenyon for leadership and John Dugdale for artistic excellence.

Founded in 1977, the CPW is recognized as a major national cultural resource. A not-for-profit arts and education organization, it is dedicated to supporting the creation, presentation, and education of contemporary creative photography and related media with year-round programs, including exhibitions, workshops, lectures, publications, artist residencies, and other services for artists.

Ariel Shanberg, Executive Director of the CPW states, "The Vision Awards provide a distinctive opportunity to acknowledge individuals whose accomplishments in the field of photography have enriched countless lives. The Center has had the honor of working with many artists, writers, and curators who have gone on to make significant impact in the arts. As Colleen and Kathleen maintained and nurtured a home for local, national and international photographers, they championed a wide range of talent, bringing regional artists to an international audience

and introducing better-known artists to the Catskill and Hudson Valley. John's accomplishments are as substantial. His spirit and passion for art and life leaves a lasting impression on anyone who encounters his images. John exemplifies Colleen and Kathleen's amazing dedication to independent artists with unique vision. It is particularly fitting to launch the inaugural awards with these exceptional recipients.”
