Colleen
Kenyon
became the CPW’s first Director Emeritus in October 2003, after a
twenty-five year commitment to the organization. Beginning as a volunteer in
1978, she served as the Executive Director from 1981 until 2003. During her
tenure, her outstanding leadership and devotion to the community of artists
and audiences resulted in the CPW becoming one of the country’s premiere
arts organizations. Doug James, a member of the CPW’s Advisory Board and
President Emeritus of the Woodstock Guild said of Kenyon’s directorship, “Colleen
turned a small local gallery into a world-class, internationally known arts
giant, bringing top artists to teach here, discovering talent whose names
are now celebrated, and astonishing critics. The achievement is nothing
short of monumental.”
