Please join us for an artist talk
& reception w/ PLATON
at the Leica Gallery

Thursday June 3, 2004 / 6:30pm

The Leica Gallery
670 Broadway, Suite 500
New York City

We are pleased to offer a very special event in NYC for CPW members and friends. Join us as renown photographer, Platon, offers an intimate look into his never-before-published documentary photographs in the exhibition, ON A CLEAR DAY (Song for my Father), currently at Leica Gallery in NYC (on display through June 19).

Platon’s images captures scenes of tenderness and spontaneity. In what Platon calls "a search for human dignity," this very personal project was originally conceived as an on-going collaborative travelogue, and visual and verbal dialogue, between Platon (through his photographs) and his father (through his writings). Regretfully, his father unexpectedly passed away this January. Platon states, "His experience and vision - a mixture of design, ethics, architecture, and culture - has made an everlasting impression on me. Like a parent showing a child how to walk, he allowed me to be a humble beginner in the ways of the world, and this project taught me about cultural tact, communication on an instinctual level, and above all, humility."

This event is free and open to the public and has been made possible by the generous support of Jay & Rose Deutsch and the Leica Gallery.
