Development Associate

The Center for Photography at Woodstock seeks a motivated, energetic individual for the full-time position of Development Associate to work with CPW’s full time staff.

Founded in 1977, the Center for Photography at Woodstock is a not-for-profit, artist-centered organization, dedicated to the supporting artists working in photography and related media and their audiences through offerings in which creation, discovery, & learning are made possible. CPW serves as a bridge, connecting artists to artists, educators to students, readers to writers, curators to artists, & audiences to all.

Job Description
The Development Associate works with the Executive Director and others to fulfill annual-and long-term development strategies for CPW. Primary functions will be to facilitate membership renewal and retention, help advance individual and institutional donor relationships, assist in the process of acquiring members and other donors, plan and produce all donor recognition vehicles, and coordinate cultivation and fundraising events. This is an exciting time to join CPW’s administrative team, as we celebrate our 35th Anniversary and undergo a pivotal strategic planning process.

Position description: the Development Associate generates membership renewals, helps write appeals and other requests to individual, government and institutional constituents; updates and organizes information in the database and produces reports, produces member and individual acknowledgments, and ensures member fulfillment.


Position Responsibilities

  • Solicit membership renewals; respond to member inquiries; send out notices, acknowledgements, invitations or other member-related communications and ensure fulfillment of member and Patron benefits; work with Board and Executive Director to create member/cultivation events, and perform other work to support membership acquisition and retention objectives
  • Help solicit contributions for individuals, foundations, government and corporate sources; acknowledge these contributions; produce action reports and perform other duties that advance donor relations
  • Write, update, and revise member mailings, appeals and acknowledgements; help write solicitations and proposals to individual and institutional prospects and donors
  • Assist relevant staff in updating website information that pertains to membership or other contributors
  • Help reconcile financial and contact data
  • In conjunction with Benefit Gala Committee, help plan and organize annual Benefit Gala Auction
  • Maintain grant calendar and annual giving timelines, and update regularly with Executive Director


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a propensity to be proactive are musts
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience using a CRM (customer relation management) database
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (mail merges in particular) and ability to rapidly learn new software.
  • Knowledge of basic website editing and Constant Contact, GiftWorks, Abode Photoshop and/or InDesign programs a plus

Location
The Development Associate will work primarily at CPW’s offices in Woodstock, though frequent events and meetings are held in NYC.

Salary
$28,000 starting annual salary (includes paid vacation, personal/sick days), & health benefits
